Select photos from 2010 Rendezvous West, at the Sheraton Waikiki.
The event was an opportunity to showcase the $187 million in renovations and upgrades at Sheraton Waikiki last night (June 9, 2010), hosting the opening reception “Hawai‘i on the Edge” on the deck of the hotel’s brand new Infinity Edge Pool.
No detail was left undone. From decorations and linens in ocean blue, the theme blended seamlessly into the Infinity Edge Pool and Waikiki beach. The IONA contemporary dance theatre was on hand to create the mood for the evening. Tree shaped dancers greeted guests walking through lighted fabric tunnels. Other performers floated in the pool like exotic lilies, swaying in the cool breeze. The evening was capped off with fireworks, and an after party at Rumfire.

We had a fun time shooting Serena and her boyfriend Hudson at Waikiki Beach! Lately, I’ve found this area to be really versatile for creating different looks during an engagement photo session. Of course… there’s the beach. But, for a totally different feel, the shady banyan trees provide cooler and even toned photos. Other neat options are the walking path, and down the way there’s the water fountain. All in all, we had a really great afternoon, with a perfect sunset!

Top photo: Elizabeth with Chinatown Mafia.
As I understand, it sounds like everyone had an eventful weekend with a tsunami warning. Things allways happen when I leave the island… I was high and dry in San Francisco, working with fashion designer Esther Yei Shih, of Far East Living.
We took model Elizabeth through Chinatown during the annual Chinese New Year Community Street Fair. My favorite shot of the weekend was Lizz walking with a group of men we dubbed the “Chinatown Mafia”. Most likely though, they were probably a bunch of friends off to a game of mahjong.
We’re back in Hawaii and looking forward to other fashion projects this week, as well as our Saturday wedding!
