I just returned yesterday from 4 days in Death Valley, CA. What an amazing trip! From sunrise to sunset, I was out and about hiking the trails and getting killer photos. Visit the Perfekt Photo facebook page to see a few of my favorites. Even in winter, the dry air and lack of humidity is almost unbearable. With that being said, it’s amazing at the amount of life and diversity in the desert.
Also to note – We’ll be at the Hawaii Wedding Expo this weekend. Our booth will be next to The Wedding Ring Shop. Stop by The Wedding Ring Shop to see the latest Tacori collection and enter to win an engagement session by us. See you at the show!
Chef Alan Wong’s new book, The Blue Tomato is now available at his restaurants and online! It took many early morning photo sessions at Alan’s King Street restaurant and long hours in photoshop to finish our shots. In the behind the scenes video, you can see Kari and I working like crazy – just to get the photos right.
I’ve posted the Book Trailer Video and a few of my favorite pics.
Most people think of us as wedding photographers, but about half the work we do is commercial projects like this. To see more of our advertising and editorial photography, visit davidmurphey.com. The Blue Tomato was an awesome project and one I’m proud to be a part of. To order the book, or for more information, visit Watermark Publishing.
The wedding day for Erica & Edward was sunny, and actually… much, much warmer than usual. It was one of the last hot weekends of summer. Luckily, the marble floors and high beamed ceilings of the estate made for a cool retreat. The property is almost it’s own private island, with Paiko Wildlife Sanctuary on one side, and the Pacific Ocean on the other.
The theme, fresh with lime greens and blues was a blending of two cultures, Chinese and Guamanian. A traditional tea ceremony started off the day’s events. After the western ceremony, we moved to the covered lanai for a relaxing cocktail hour and dinner catered by Indigo.
Just when I thought I’d seen it all at weddings… A surprise! The groom’s cake was in the shape of a latte stone, the unofficial logo of Guam. I’ve never seen a lumpy, gray wedding cake before. But, by the ooh’s and aah’s from Edward’s relatives, it proved to be a big hit.
As the sun set, the property was lit by strings of lanterns and candles. A truly cool and romantic setting for dancing the night away!
